FourStar attends the National 2018 Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America

The annual gathering of the Boy Scouts of America, held the week prior to Memorial Day, featured over 10,000 scouts, troops leaders, and council leaders from across America and overseas. This year Dallas was the host, near the Scouts National Headquarters in Irving Texas. The whole week featured training for all scout leaders, fellowship gatherings, and meetings of the Regional and National Committees that govern the Scouting movement in America.

FourStar CEO Brian Kasal, an Eagle Scout himself, has been involved as a local Troop and Cub Scout Pack leader, along with serving on the Scout Board in Chicago, and Regional and National Committees. Currently Brian is Vice President of the Scout’s 13 State Central Region, and he serves as a trustee of the National Foundation of the Boy Scouts of America. At this meeting, Brian was asked to join the Committee of the World Scouting Organization, charged with growing Scouting in 160 countries around the world from the current 50 Million Scouts to over 100 Million Scouts by 2023!

At the meeting, plans were made for the upcoming 2019 World Scout’s jamboree to be hosted for the first time in America since the 1950’s. Expected to be largest world Jamboree ever, hosting over 50,000 scouts from 160 countries, it will be held at the Scouts Bechtel Summit site in Glen Jean, West Virginia. Also discussed were plans for adding young girls to the remaining two programs of the Scouts that were still single gender, over the next two years. Three of the five Scouting programs, Sea Scouts, Explorers and Venturing are co-ed now and girls will be invited next year to join Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs.
